Personality:

The vast majority of Dyson’s life was spend with a pack of Wolf-Shifters serving a King in Ireland, along with his childhood best friend, Stefan. He lived, fought beside, and bled with these men on a frequent basis over a great many centuries, and they were family, his brothers. He would have done anything for them, done anything for his king, and he was fiercely devoted to them. He was brutal in battle, cutting down his enemies with his great skill and leadership, and he enjoyed it, living for the adrenaline and working with his pack toward victory.

All that changed when he discovered that the King had sent his best friend into a suicidal trap, knowing full well that he would not survive, simply because he wanted Stefan’s wife for himself. He watched his friend die when he refused to give his wolf up to the Norn, and his brother’s stood in his way when he wanted to go to the King for vengeance. Instead of raising a hand against the wolves he’d fought with, he instead separated from the pack forever, becoming a literal lone wolf in the process.

Though plenty of time has passed since he left them, Dyson sometimes distances himself emotionally from others, and come often come off as cold to those who don’t truly know him. In reality, Dyson is an incredibly caring person, and is loyal to his friends and loved ones with near blind devotion. There is almost nothing he won’t do for them, including killing and dying for them. While Dyson has quite a bit of respect for his superiors and for the laws set for him and his kind, he will often break or bend those rules for the sake of his friends, especially in regards to Bo.

Because Bo is undeniably special to him. In the many centuries he’s been alive, Bo has been the first person he’s truly offered his undying love for. It’s established in canon that Wolf-Shifters mate for life, and once Dyson fell for Bo completely, his everything belonged to her. When the Norn took his love, he could love no other person, because it belonged completely to the succubus. There is nothing he won’t do for her, and he’s nearly given his life for her multiple times. He worries her nearly constantly, but he also believes that she’s entirely capable, sending her on missions in order to help him with his cases, and he helps her with hers as well. They have an interesting give and take, and though they haven’t been together in some time, they are still incredibly close.

Dyson is also extremely close to Kenzi, with whom he shares a special relationship. He was one of the first Fae to truly care about her after Bo claimed her, doing whatever he could to save her life. It could be thought that he was simply doing it to make Bo happy, but that’s been proven not to be the case. Kenzi amuses him, and though Dyson has seen a lot in his very long life, Kenzi continually surprises him. She’s one of his best friends, and both have gone to bat for the other many a time. Kenzi also saw his true feelings and how empty he was after the Norn took his love due to a body-switching situation, and even though Kenzi never keeps secrets from Bo, she never told her about what she experienced while in Dyson’s body. They have an unshakeable bond, one that most Fae wouldn’t understand due to her being human.

As far as Dyson’s patience, it varies depending on the situation. His very long life has taught him how to wait for things he wants, as he has been content to wait for Bo to live through her relationship with Lauren and hopefully come back to him sometime in the future. Lauren is, after all, human, while Bo will live a very, very long life, barring any unnatural kind of death. To him, waiting 50 or 60 years is no issue, and he’d be willing to do that to be with her.

However, when it comes to his friends being in danger or someone attempting to be a threat, Dyson’s fuse grows very short, his temper flaring in an instant, and he isn’t against resorting to violence very quickly. He is easily antagonized and irritated, and he will often end up in an act first, ask questions later kind of situation. Add to this the fact that he’s almost entirely fearless and it’s amazing that he’s lived this long. Only the fact that he’s intelligent and a very capable warrior has kept him breathing this long. Well, that, and quite a bit of luck and powerful friends.

Dyson is a Light Fae and loyal to the Ash, and though his kind will always come first, he does care for humans more than most Fae would. This may be in part due to the influence of Kenzi and Bo, though his enjoyment as a police officer may suggest otherwise, along with his generally kind and generous personality. Though he cannot often do anything when a Fae is feeding on humans (they have to survive after all), he will go out of his way to find if any laws have been broken in order to take the Fae down and keep humans safe.

Once wronged, Dyson is not the type to forgive very easily, and he has no problems in taking revenge. He has no qualms at all about killing when necessary, and sometimes he will even do it for fun. In particular, killing and eating the human that imprisoned him and tried to fuse with his DNA was a rather brutal example of his somewhat violent nature. He doesn’t put up with bullshit, nor does he take threats lightly. Messing with his friends rarely ends will for anyone who tries it.

Powers/Abilties:

Dyson is a Wolf-Shifter (Lycan), which gives him the following abilities explained below. It is important to note that he isn’t a werewolf; he is in complete control over his transformations and abilities, and is not forced to change on a full moon, nor does he have typical werewolf weaknesses.

Enhanced Senses: His senses are far better than a humans, name his sight, smell and hearing. His sense of smell is particularly enhanced; he can track people by scent, and retains memory of a person’s smell long after he’s met them. He can also tell a person’s race by their scent as well.

Wolf Transformation: Dyson can tap into his wolf without fully changing, which causes partial changes in his appearance, namely his eyes, teeth, ears, and hands/claws. While he is stronger, faster and has more stamina than a human even normally, when he taps into his wolf these reach superhuman levels. He can also fully transform into a wolf, and is undistinguishable from a normal (albeit large) wolf, though he retains his superhuman aspects as well as his intelligence.

Longevity: Though not immortal, Dyson will live for a very, very long time, unless he suffers from some kind of unnatural death.

Healing Factor: Dyson heals from injuries significantly faster than a human, though this is typical for most fae.
